Leveling heroes in the Age of Empires Mobile is one of the most important things to do in order to have strong heroes. By leveling heroes, you will get talent tree points and various stats that will increase the power of the hero. Leveling in the Age of Empires Mobile is a long process because there are only a few ways to gain experience.
The fastest way to level up is by spending money in the game shop. Unfortunately, if you are free to play, purchasing XP Tomes from the shop is the fastest way.
To level up your hero, you will need experience that can be obtained and increased by:
- Destroying Barbarians
- Talent Tree
- VIP Level
- XP tomes
- Completing Events
- Bundles
Destroying Barbarians on the Map
Destroying Barbarians on Map is a great way to level up your heroes. When you destroy barbarians, all your heroes will gain experience. One crucial thing to know is that you can attack barbarians with 5 troops, and all heroes in those 5 troops will get experience and 5x loot.
We recommend that you always attack with five marchers if you are a new player because you will destroy barbarians faster, which means that you will spend fewer resources on healing troops.
Also, you will be able to attack higher-level barbarians, which will give you more experience and loot. When you defeat barbarians, you will get skills points, resources, speedups, and a sanctuary blueprint.
Talent Tree Experience Boost
When you defeat barbarians, you will gain experience, but you can boost it additionally via the talent tree. Navigate to the talent tree, and on the right side of Military Tactics Mastery, you will see a talent called Field Battle XP. It will give you 5% more experience when you defeat barbarians. Every hero has this talent.
A 5% boost seems like a small amount, but keep in mind that the talent tree in Age of Empires Mobile is stacking, so if all 3 heroes in March have Field Battle XP, they will have a 15% boost in experience.
We strongly recommend that you pick up this talent if you are a new player. Later, when you max out heroes, you can reset your talents and pick something else.
VIP Levels
VIP levels will not directly boost your experience gain, but they will provide you with additional stamina production. We all know that in order to destroy barbarians, you need stamina. So with VIP, you will generate more stamina, which means that you will be able to destroy more barbarians for experience.
XP Tomes
XP tomes are items that give a certain amount of experience when you use them on heroes. We recommend that you use XP tomes only on the best heroes that you will not have time to level up via barbarians, heroes that you need for fighting other players.

- Arena Shop
- Alliance Treasury
- Island Tactics
- Wandering Merchant
- Quests
Completing Events
There are a lot of different events that you can do each day in Age of Empires Mobile, and the majority will have experience as part of the rewards. You should always complete all events, not only because you will gain experience, but also because you will receive other rewards, especially if you are free to play. Free-to-play players have limited ways to get items.
In-game Shop
Age of Empires has a game shop, just like every mobile game, where you can spend money to get various items. In the shop, you will find various bundles and packs that will contain experiences for heroes. We do not recommend that you spend money on the game, but if you do, then get what you need. Spending on experience should not be your priority.
