Each Civilization in Age of Empires Mobile will give you bonuses in resource gathering, troop defense bonus, training speed, and special units. Currently, there are 4 civilizations available in Age of Empires Mobile: Chinese, French, Byzantines, and Romans.
What civilization you will pick in Age of Empires Mobile depends on your in-game goal and what commanders you have. Currently, all civilizations in Age of Empires Mobile are equal, but if you are a new player, then feel free to pick Chinese civilization. The reason is that you will get 8 villagers capacity. You can activate various buffs and produce more resources with villagers, which is critical for new players. When you reach the endgame, you can select a civilization based on the heroes you have.
For example, if you have a majority of heroes that are designed for Swordsmen then you want to pick French civilization. The reason is that you will use a lot of Swordsmen units, so French civilization will give you Swordsmen defense, training speed, and special Swordsmen units.
If developers implement additional buffs for Civilizations we will update the guide. For now, all Civilizations in the Age of Empires Mobile are the same in power. Choose civilization based on the type of units that you are using the most. If you are a new player, take Chinese civilization.

Chinese
Chinese civilization is for new players and players who are using Archer units a lot. It will give you 5% archer defense, 2% Villager Capacity and Walls Durability +10%. Chun Ko Nu are special archer units that you will get from Chinese civilization.
French
French civilization is for players who use Cavalry units a lot. It will give you 5% Cavalry defense, Resources Exchange Rate +5% and Gathering troops Defense +10%. Throwing Axemen are special Swordsmen units that you will get from French civilization.
Byzantines
Byzantine civilization is for players that are using Swordsmen units a lot or they are rallying objectives. It will give you +5% Swordsmen’s defense, All Unit Type’s Siege Damage +5% and Stone Gathering in the World +5%. Cataphracts are special cavalry units that you will get from Byzantine civilization.
Roman
Roman civilization is for players that are using Pikemen units a lot. It will give you 5% Pikemen defense, healing speed +5%, and Villagers’ Boost to Buildings’ production +30. Phalanxes are special Pikemen units that you will get from Roman civilization.
