Age of Empires Mobile Apex Arena Guide

Age of Empires Mobile Apex Arena Guide

Apex Arena is a game mode in Age of Empires Mobile where you fight against other players. Defeating an enemy player will earn you rewards and increase your ranking on the leaderboard. All players can have 4 sets of marches, each containing 3 heroes. Everything plays a crucial role in Apex Arena—talent trees, equipment, rings, troops, etc.

Because of this, if you are a free-to-play player or a new player, you may struggle to reach the top rankings on the leaderboard, as those spots are dominated by pay-to-win players. Over time, as you reach the endgame and unlock the best heroes, you will be able to compete against them, but it will take time to get to that level.

Even if you cannot secure top leaderboard spots, that does not mean you should avoid playing Apex Arena. It provides rewards that significantly aid your progression, and it’s a great place to test your hero lineup. When you unlock a new hero, try adding them to your Apex Arena lineup to see how they perform in real battles.

Apex Arena Lineup

When you enter Apex Arena, you will need to set up your lineup for both defense and attack. Battles are fought in 4 vs. 4 formations, so you must create 4 pairings, requiring a total of 12 heroes.

There are many heroes in Age of Empires Mobile, with more being added over time. This makes it difficult to recommend the “best” lineups since you may not have access to the heroes we suggest. Use the strongest heroes available to you, and if you are unsure, refer to the AOE Mobile Tier List or the pairing list.

When building a lineup, pay attention to talents, attributes, bonuses, and troops. Additionally, look for the shield icon, which indicates a tank-focused pairing. For these, use tanky heroes like Richard and pikemen units, as they can absorb significant damage. For the other 3 pairings, focus on heroes with high damage output.

Apex Arena Rewards

Apex Arena Rewards

There are 3 types of rewards in Apex Arena: battle rewards, daily leaderboard rewards, and season rewards.

Battle Rewards: Winning battles grants a small amount of Empire Coins and Arena Silver, which can be spent in the arena shop.

Leaderboard Rewards: Both daily and seasonal leaderboard rewards are challenging to obtain for free-to-play or new players, as these rankings are dominated by pay-to-win players.

To compete for leaderboard rewards, you will need to unlock strong heroes, max out their levels and skills, and unlock tier 7 troops. Without these, pay-to-win players will have a significant advantage due to their fully maxed resources and upgrades.

Apex Arena Store

Apex Arena Store

The Apex Arena store allows you to purchase various items using Arena Silver. What you should buy depends on your current needs.

Focus on items that are rare and hard to obtain, such as Legendary Hero Tokens, Sand, and fine gold for rings.
If you are a new player, consider spending on skill points and experience to accelerate your progression.

Apex Arena General Tips

To climb higher in Apex Arena, you need to improve your entire account. This includes upgrading troops, leveling up heroes and their skills, acquiring equipment, and more.

The most important advice is to focus on overpowered heroes. There is no point in leveling up weaker heroes, such as epic heroes primarily used for gathering. Instead, choose a few strong legendary heroes and concentrate on maxing them out.

Be patient, focus on growing your account, and over time, you will be able to compete against pay-to-win players.
