New Age of Empires Mobile players get overwhelmed when they realize that each hero comes with various systems like military specialties, unit types, levels, and more. At first, it looks complicated, but honestly, it is not. Once you understand how these systems work together, you will have no problems building some great lineups that will dominate. We will cover everything you need to know about heroes and their related systems in this guide.
Hero Stats
Each hero in Age of Empires Mobile has 4 stats: Might, Armor, Strategy, and Siege. When you inspect hero stats inside a game, one that is a different color is his primary stat that is highest. This means that the majority of heroes’ skills will be affected by those stats. Knowing what is best stats for each hero is also important so you can know what stats to take from the talent tree, gear, and gems.
- Might: Every point of might increases the might attack of units in the troop by 0.15%. For skills with might bonus, every point of might increases the skill effects by 0.3%.
- Armor: Every point of armor increases the might defense of units in the troop by 0.15%. For skills with defense bonus, every point of armor increases the skill effects by 0.3%.
- Strategy : Every point of strategy increases the strategy attack and strategy defense of units in the troop by 0.15%. For skills with strategy bonus, every point of strategy increases the skill effects by 0.3%.
- Siege: A higher siege attribute allows the hero’s troop to deal more siege damage. For skills with siege bonus, every point of siege increases the skills’ effects by 0.3%.
Military Specialty
Each hero has a military specialty that will be a bonus for all attributes. Having 3 heroes with the same specialty on a team will give you a 180% bonus, which is not a small number. That is why when you are creating pairings, you have to first look at Military Specialty. If you don’t pair heroes with the same military specialty, you’ll lose tons of bonuses.
Military Specialty: The Strength in Numbers talent activates the military specialty. With 2 heroes sharing the same specialty in a troop, they receive a 20% bonus for all attributes. If all 3 heroes share the specialty, the bonus increases to 30%.
Unit Type
Unit type is also important to know when you are building a team. Each hero has a unit type, or in some cases, two unit types. If you pair three heroes with the same unit type, they will get a bonus of 15% on all attributes. Keep in mind that pairing is not enough. You also have to use those units with them to get maximum effect.
Unit Specialty: When leading troops that fit with the hero’s unit type specialty, they will get bonuses for all attributes. Based on the number of matched unit type specialty, the bonus would be 5%/10%/15%.
Hero Star
Hero Star is the number of times you have upgraded a hero with medals. Each upgrade on hero stars will give you bonus stats like might, and for each full upgrade of the star, you will get special bonuses like reducing your troop’s damage taken by 2.5%. That is why it is important to upgrade your heroes using medals as much as possible.
Hero Level
Each hero in the Age of Empires mobile can be upgraded to level 120. It can be done by defeating barbarians or using XP books. What you have to know is that each time you level up a hero, you will get a certain number of stats and points that you can use in the talent tree. On top of that, each time you level up a hero, you will get unit capacity, which is extremely important when it comes to PVP and PVE. More unit capacity means more damage.
Talent Tree
On max hero level 120, you will have 51 talent tree points that you can spend. Talent trees are generic, which makes them easy to build and understand. If your hero’s primary stats are might, then take all might from the talent tree that you can while avoiding siege and strategy. It is the same if it is armor or a strategy. Avoid Siege. It is not worth taking. The remaining points should go to talents that increase or reduce damage. Simply avoid selecting any talents associated with gatherings or barbarians. The only time you will take a gathering is when you are using that hero for gathering.
Hero Gear
You can equip each hero with four pieces of Gear: the head, arms, chest, and boots. If your hero focuses on swordsmen, you should equip only swordsmen’s Gear. The same goes for arches, pikemen, and cavalry. Rings are extremely hard to obtain, so we recommend that you equip anything that will boost hero damage or increase defense, like the Ring of Clover.
Hero Skills
Each hero has two fixed skills and two slots where you can select from six different skills. Keep in mind that you will get 2 free skills that you can put in skill slots, while the other 4 must be unlocked. They are unblocked via skill tokens that you can get from events or by purchasing them in shops using empire tokens. You can upgrade each skill using skill points and skill scrolls. The maximum level of skill is 40 when you reach level 120. You can get all resources for upgrading and leveling skills from shops or by participating in events.
Skill Type
Each skill will be a certain type, but the majority will be similar to the commander’s signature skill.
- Active: Chance to be activated each time the hero takes action.
- Turn-based: Guaranteed to be activated between certain intervals.
- Secondary Strike: Chance to be activated each time the hero launches a normal attack (including double attacks).
- Passive: Activated under certain conditions.
Lineups
In the lineup, you can use 3 heroes, but it is extremely important to know how to create a lineup to get the most stats and benefits. To start, use heroes with the same military and unit specialties. This will give you a lot of stats. Without using three heroes of the same military and unit specialty, you will be at a huge disadvantage.
The same thing is true of commander skills. Commander skills are unique skills that every hero has. Some commander skills are extremely good, while others are not. When you are creating your lineup, only the primary hero commander skill will be activated, while the other 2 heroes will not. That is why it is important to know what hero to use as the primary hero.
Talent trees are stacking, not unlike in other games where only primary hero talent works. Therefore, you must max-level all three heroes in your lineup to get talent tree points.
